What is a cookie?

Our website makes use of cookies. A cookie is a simple small file that is sent along with pages of this website [and/or Flash applications] and stored by your browser onto the hard disk of your computer. The information stored in the cookie can be sent back to our servers during your next visit.

Different types of cookies

We distinguish between functional and non-functional cookies. We always store functional cookies. These are required for the proper functioning of the website. For example, they keep you logged in on the website, if you wish to be. In addition to functional cookies, we also use standard analytical cookies. This is an example of a non-functional cookie. It is not required for the proper functioning of the website. It lets us know which website components are popular and which areas of our website need improvement. Only if you agree to us using cookies, we will also store a number of other non-functional cookies. They each serve a different purpose, but they all allow us to improve our service. We use cookies to show online surveys on our website, to test improvement to our website, to display social media buttons or to show relevant ads for our services on other websites.

Use of permanent cookies

By using a permanent cookie, we can recognize you when you next visit our website. This allows the website to be configured to your preferences. If you have given permission for the use of cookies, we can remember this preference through a cookie. This makes it so you do not have to repeatedly indicate your preferences, saving you time and giving you a more pleasant experience of our website. Permanent cookies can be deleted using your browser settings.

Use of session cookies

By using a session cookie, we can see which parts of the website you viewed during that particular visit. This allows us to customize our service to the browsing behaviour of our visitors. These cookies are deleted automatically after you close your web browser.

Our tracking cookies

With your permission, we store a cookie on your device. This cookie can be requested when you visit a website from our network. This allows us to find out if you visited any of the other website(s) from our network, in addition to our own website. The resulting profile is not linked to your name, address, email address and such, but only serves to tailor advertisements to your profile so that they are relevant to you.

Tracking cookies from our advertisers

With your permission, our advertisers store tracking cookies on your device. They use these cookies to keep track of which pages you visit from their network and to create a profile of your online browsing behaviour. This profile is partly based on similar information they receive from your visits to other websites from their network. This profile is not linked to your name, address, email address and such, but only serves to tailor advertisements to your profile so that they are relevant to you.

Google undertakes to comply to the Privacy Shield principles and is affiliated with the Privacy Shield programme of the American Ministry of Trade. This means they offer an adequate protection level for the processing of any personal data.

Our website included buttons to promote (“like”) or share (“tweet”) web pages on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. These buttons work thanks to pieces of code belonging to Facebook and Twitter, respectively. This code stores cookies. We have no influence on this. Please read the privacy statements of Facebook and Twitter (which may be updated regularly) to read about how they use the (personal) data they process through these cookies.
